The finest electrical workers in the state of Texas receive their training through Houston Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee Programs.
The programs are sponsored jointly by Labor and Management. This is a model educational partnership which produces the best-trained, most up-to-date electricians and telecommunications technicians in the country.
The recruitment, selection, employment and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship, shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, genetic information, or age—except the applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Once you complete your online application, you will have 30 calendar days from the date your application is submitted to bring in ALL required documents listed below.

YOU MUST BE INSIDE THE BUILDING AND IN LINE BEFORE THE DESIGNATED CUT-OFF TIME.
⏰ Monday cut-off: 11:00 AM
⏰ Wednesday cut-off: 3:00 PM
If you are not inside the building and in line by the designated cut-off time, you will be TURNED AWAY and required to return during the next scheduled document drop-off period. NO EXCEPTIONS.
⚠️ PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY! Arriving at the parking lot or entering the building after the cut-off time does not guarantee that your documents will be accepted.

📄 Official Transcripts Required
Your official high school or college transcripts must include:
One full credit of Algebra
Graduation date (GED is acceptable)
Degree information, if applicable
Official transcripts must be submitted by one of the following methods:
📬 Sealed envelope directly from the school
📧 Sent electronically directly to staff@houstonjatc.com from the school or an authorized third-party transcript service
Please note: Official transcripts will continue to be accepted during the application closure period.
⚡ TDLR Apprentice Electrician License Required
A current Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Apprentice Electrician License is required.
You can visit the TDLR website to apply for your Apprentice Electrician License.
💵 TDLR License Fee: $20.00
This fee is separate from the $30.00 Houston JATC application fee.
